ESPN's Ed Werder, reporting live from Washington moment ago, advised viewers that Al Saunders has confirmed that Portis will dress and serve as Ladell Betts backup in tonight's game against the Vikings.

Werder went on to suggest it seems unlikely the Redskins would give up an active roster spot for a player not ready to contribute. He added, however, that Saunders admits Portis' possible role won't be determined until Portis makes it through pre-game warmups. Playing time will be determined by how he feels at that point.
