According to sources in Seattle, the Seahawks have requested and received a two-game roster exemption for Branch, which will give him time to learn Mike Holmgren’s system and become familiar with Matt Hasselbeck.

That doesn't mean Branch can't play for two weeks -- it means they won't have to release another player until they decide to have Branch play in a game.
