The Facts:
The Lions brought back a familiar face today with the signing of Hakim to a one-year deal. Hakim originally signed with the Lions as a free agent in 2002 after spending his first four seasons in St. Louis. He remained in Detroit until after the 2004, and spent last season with the Saints.

After one year in New Orleans, Hakim has been a free agent searching for the right fit. In coming back to Detroit, Hakim thinks he has found that fit under Rod Marinelli and his former offensive coordinator and head coach Mike Martz. It's not yet clear what role he'll play, but Hakim's familiarity with -- and past success in -- Martz' scheme makes him worth watching.
