Roethlisberger returned to the practice field Wednesday for the first time since an emergency appendectomy two weeks ago. Roethlisberger said that he doesn't have any discomfort in the area of his incision.

At his weekly press conference Monday, Bill Cowher said that Roethlisberger has to practice to play this week and that a decision on his starting quarterback for the Monday night game in Jacksonville may not come until game day. Roethlisberger has four days to convince Cowher that he's ready to take on the Jaguars.
