The Panthers have landed in Minnesota and they came short-handed.They left Smith (hamstring), running back Nick Goings (thigh) and linebacker Dan Morgan back in Charlotte because of their respective injuries.

Keary Colbert and Drew Carter will be asked to cover in Smith's absence. Carter started opposite Keyshawn Johnson last week, but it's not clear if he or Colbert will get the nod this time. Either way, both will be asked to contribute.
