The Facts:
Smith flew to Alabama on Monday morning to get a second opinion on his troublesome hamstring, which could actually be a sign things are improving. According to sources with knowledge of the situation, Smith is consulting with noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Smith has missed the first two games of the regular season after tweaking his right hamstring the Tuesday before the opener. Simply getting another look at the injury isn't necessarily a dire sign. And if the current problem follows the same timetable as the first one, he could be on pace to return to the field later this week. ... As Herald staffer Darin Gantt suggested, with Drew Carter's status now in question (due to a broken finger), the Panthers offense could certainly use a lift from last year's league-leading receiver. They've scored one touchdown in two games.
