Smith returned to practice today for the first time since Sept. 5. "You hold your breath, but he looked like he made it through pretty good," John Fox said. "He looked good in the things he did on the practice field today. So we'll just see how he looks and feels tomorrow."

Fox also said Smith was able to work without limitations. A good sign, but as the coach suggested, Friday -- after any possible soreness has a chance to set in -- will be a key day here. ... Once last note here: Rock Hill Herald staffer Darin Gantt notes this morning that team officials are not going to rush Smith, though they can't wait to get him back on the field.
