The Facts:
The Seahawks have until Tuesday to designate quarterback Matt Hasselbeck or running back Shaun Alexander as their franchise player. Hasselbeck, Seattle's starter for the last four years, threw for 3,382 yards and 22 touchdowns with 15 interceptions in 2004. Alexander rushed for a career-high and franchise-record 1,696 yards, one yard shy of rushing champion Curtis Martin.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The deadline is 4 p.m. EST on Tuesday for teams to use their designations. The franchise tag -- used on tackle Walter Jones the last three years -- entitles the Seahawks to right of first refusal and two first-round picks as compensation. However, the player that does not receive the designation is free to sign with any team with the Seahawks not receiving any compensation. Unless the two sides reach an agreement before the deadline, those close to the situation believe Hasselbeck will draw the tag over Alexander.
