Jerry Porter Urged Raiders To Acquire Randy Moss
(2/24 2:1 PT)

The Facts:
Porter said Wednesday he urged management to trade for Moss, even as he worked in recent weeks to negotiate his own contract. "If the Raiders can get him, it'll be the 1999-2000 Minnesota Vikings all over again," said Porter, who signed a new deal with the team Tuesday. "We've got a big gun quarterback, two capable receivers on the outside. If we get a running game, we could go all the way." Fellow wideout Ronald Curry, who had six touchdowns last season before sustaining a torn Achilles in the Dec. 5 game against Kansas City, also said he welcomes the addition of Moss, even if it means fewer catches for him. Reported by the San Francisco Chronicle

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Porter is right -- especially the part about the rushing attack. Given the Raiders past interest in Jets free agent-to-be LaMont Jordan, it's safe to assume that aspect of the offense will be addressed this spring. ... Meanwhile, Porter and Moss both wear No. 84, but Porter indicated he'd be willing to part with the number "for the right price." Pressed to name that price during a Wednesday afternoon appearance on the NFL Network's Total Access show, Porter suggested the promise of some Championship jewelry might be sufficient.
