Gabriel started five of 12 games and caught 25 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns in his first season with the Patriots after being acquired from the Oakland Raiders for an undisclosed draft choice. But Gabriel slipped to fifth on the depth chart behind starters Troy Brown and Reche Caldwell and backups Chad Jackson and Jabar Gaffney.
