The Jaguars on Tuesday fired offensive coordinator Carl Smith and four other coaches. Quarterbacks coach Ken Anderson, wide receivers coach Steve Walters, special teams coach Pete Rodriguez and special teams assistant Mark Michaels were also fired.

Jacksonville finished fifth in the AFC in scoring, averaging 23.2 points per game, with Byron Leftwich and David Garrard splitting the starts at quarterback. But the Jaguars (8-8) closed the season with three straight losses and failed to make the playoffs. That was enough to convince Jack Del Rio that changes needed to be made.
