The Facts:
Pathon, who had one year remaining on the four-year, $10 million contract he signed in 2002, was due a $650,000 roster bonus March 17. He also was scheduled to earn a $2.5 million base salary and $100,000 workout bonus this season. Pathon's release makes him an unrestricted free agent.
