The Facts:
Ken Whisenhunt filled two key positions on his coaching staff Thursday, naming Todd Haley as OC and Clancy Pendergast DC. Haley has been Whisenhunt's top choice for the job, but it wasn't clear until the past two days if the Cowboys would release him from his contract. Haley was the Cowboys' receivers coach and passing game coordinator the last three seasons.

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
The Cowboys initially denied the Cardinals permission to talk to Haley about the job, but coach Bill Parcells' retirement this week changed that. The Cowboys have hired Jason Garrett as offensive coordinator, and he is also under consideration to be their head coach. ... Haley and Whisenhunt coached together with the Jets in 2000 and are good friends. ... Haley faced a great challenge in 2006 in coaching receiver Terrell Owens, and the two clashed during the season.
