On the day they officially lost No. 2 tailback LaMont Jordan to the Raiders, the Jets signed his replacement, adding Blaylock, a four-year veteran who had played his entire career with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Jets had to move decisively on Blaylock, an unrestricted free agent who was being pursued by several other clubs, most notably the Bucs.
