The Facts:
The Cowboys obtained permission Tuesday morning from the Bears to interview DC Ron Rivera for their HC position. Rivera is scheduled to interview with owner Jerry Jones Tuesday afternoon (weather permitting). Meanwhile, Tony Dungy told ESPN on Tuesday that the Cowboys have made no request for permission to interview Colts assistant HC Jim Caldwell.

For what it's worth, the Cowboys only sought permission to interview Rivera as a potential head coach. But Norv Turner -- believed to be the front-runner to replace Bill Parcells -- first brought Rivera to Jones' attention when, during his own interview, he recommended Rivera as his DC of choice should he get the job. Rivera, whose contract expires later this month, hasn't ruled out a lateral move. ... Stay tuned. Jones has said he will not name a head coach to replace Bill Parcells until Wednesday at the earliest.
