Since the Broncos benched Plummer, speculation has persisted about where he would end up in 2007. But Mike Shanahan made it clear this week he will determine that because Denver intends to trade Plummer, not cut him.

And Denver could have another factor working in its favor. The two teams expected to be the most interested in Plummer, Houston and Jacksonville, each has a coach familiar with him. In Houston, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak worked with Plummer in Denver. In Jacksonville, Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter is the former Arizona State head coach. Koetter admires Plummer, Plummer admires Koetter. If Kubiak and the Texans don't stand in the way, the two could be working together again.
