Texans GM Rick Smith said Carr is the Texans starting QB, but he put an unsolicited qualifier onto those statements ... for now. "Right now? Yes. He is our starting quarterback, and we're excited about him improving in this offense," Smith said Thursday at the NFL draft combine. Reported by the Houston Chronicle

But does "right now" infer that he is going to be traded? "That's the truth," Smith said. "I'm saying that that is a possibility. ..." In other words, the team hasn't had any firm trade offers. Nor are they able to talk to the man many observers consider the most likely replacement, Jake Plummer, who is under contract with the Denver Broncos. ... Stay tuned. It's safe to assume we haven't heard the last of this one.
