Byrd will go to trial July 9 after pleading not guilty Friday to charges that he assaulted a man at a downtown St. Louis nightclub. Byrd, 23, faces charges of assault and armed criminal action. Reported by the Associated Press

The incident happened in December. Byrd was accused of hitting a bar patron in the face with a drinking glass. ... A third-round pick last April, Byrd played in just five games in 2006. He caught two passes for 39 yards and one touchdown.
