The Ravens have waived Lewis, GM Ozzie Newsome announced today. But Newsome expressed his desire to re-sign Lewis sometime this offseason. "We are involved in negotiations with Jamal, and there has been good dialogue," said Newsome. "It's our hope to have him back with the Ravens."

Lewis was due to receive a $5 million roster bonus Saturday. Cutting the former first-round pick, who has an $11.6 million salary cap number, creates $8.3 million in cap room. The Ravens are approximately $3 million under the cap and need more space to address other needs. ... Stay tuned. Lewis will obviously be of interest to a number of running-back needy teams -- the Broncos and Giants among them.
