Conwell, 34, was due $1.9 million in the final year of his contract, plus a $75,000 workout bonus. The 11-year veteran signed with the Saints in 2003. But knee injuries limited him to 15 games the past two years. His departure leaves Billy Miller and Mark Campbell as the team's top tight ends.
