The Facts:
A week ago, Plummer urged reporters to look into his eyes and hear his voice when he announced his plans to retire from the NFL. He said as much over the telephone to Jon Gruden and GM Bruce Allen. Yet for some reason Allen insists Plummer will not take a knee next season. "I still believe he will play," Allen said Friday. "That's why we traded for him, to play here."

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
Allen, of course, might be the only one who believes that (see
alternative viewpoint here) -- although Plummer has three years remaining on his contract and the Bucs could force him to pay back $7 million in pro-rated signing bonus money if he does not play in 2007. Tampa Bay will send a fourth round pick in 2008 if Plummer returns to the field by then. If not, they owe the Broncos a seventh round pick.
