a previous item. ... The Dolphins reportedly are close to trading a seventh-round draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs for Green. The Palm Beach Post reported that the final obstacle to the trade being completed is Green agreeing to a new contract that would lower his salary next season from $7.2 million to something close to the minimum.

We already knew about the salary issue slowing the deal down; now we know the offer, too. ... As Post staffer Mark Maske also echoed this morning, another possible complication to the trade is that the Texans, after trading Wednesday for Matt Schaub, likely will trade or release David Carr and it's possible the Dolphins will pursue him.
