A trial date of May 3 was set on Thursday for Taylor on charges stemming from an altercation with police outside a nightclub on Jan. 1, a city spokesman said. Taylor, 27, was charged with one count of fourth-degree assault on a peace officer and one count of obstructing the legal process or arrest, both gross misdemeanors. He also faces a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Taylor has called the incident a misunderstanding. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum of two years and three months in prison and up to $7,000 in fines. ... The Vikings don't appear to have any interest in re-signing him.
