Dolphins coach Cam Cameron has met "more than a few times" with Mare, who is still on the roster despite the team's signing of Jay Feely. "It's probably not an ideal situation for him," Cameron said of Mare. "He's handled what people are trying to make a very difficult situation like a pro."

Cameron said both sides are being patient as the situation moves to a resolution. The problem is, Feely's presence makes it clear to the rest of the league that the Dolphins will have to cut Mare if they don't trade him. Nobody seems especially eager to give up something of value for a kicker who is all but certain to be available on the open market before long.
