The Saints re-signed Copper, a restricted free-agent wide receiver, to a one-year contract on Monday. Financial terms were not announced. Copper, 25, will be eligible to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2007 season.

Copper caught 23 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns last season after being claimed off waivers from the Cowboys. He was expected to contribute mainly on special teams, but ended up starting four games after Joe Horn was injured. Starting alongside rookie Marques Colston, Copper caught four passes for 32 yards in the postseason as the Saints advanced to the NFC championship game for the first time in franchise history. He will compete for the starting spot opposite Colston this summer.
