Despite Buzz, Jake Delhomme Is Locked In As No. 1
(3/30 12:40 PT)

The Facts:
Yes, the Panthers are looking to upgrade at the quarterback position. Yes, they're looking at a pair of former first-round picks. No, they're not looking to replace Delhomme. David Carr and Joey Harrington are being brought in next week to interview, but they're coming to talk about holding clipboards, not audition for the starting job. Reported by the Rock Hill Herald

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
This despite plenty of local buzz to the contrary in Carolina, where many observers believe neither Carr nor Harrington would consider joining the team without believing they'd get a chance to compete for the starting job. But as Herald staffer Darin Gantt suggested this morning, "Before you even begin with the 'Start (fill in the blank)' talk, know one thing: Delhomme is the Panthers' guy, and he likely will be as long as he's able and coach John Fox and general manager Marty Hurney are running the place. ..." Sounds about right to us.
