Though it had been reported the Saints visited with McCardell, he hasn't yet been to New Orleans. That could change this week, though.

Although they clearly have a need for veteran experience at the position, McCardell is by no means a lock to joing the Saints. In fact, Times-Picayune staffer Jimmy Smith suggests team won't make any major free-agent splashes the rest of the way. Smith adds there's not much left on the market that inspires the club. That seems to include McCardell.
