Johnson will visit Vikings headquarters today to explore the possibility of rejoining the team as Daunte Culpepper's backup. Johnson, who was released by Tampa Bay on March 1, flew to the Twin Cities on Sunday night and will meet with Vikings coach and former teammate Mike Tice today, said Johnson's agent, Phil Williams.

The Vikings still want to re-sign incumbent No. 2 Gus Frerotte. However, with Frerotte still shopping himself to other teams, the Vikings decided over the weekend to begin identifying alternative backup quarterbacks with veteran qualities similar to those of Frerotte.
