The NFL plans to cancel a scheduled exhibition game in China between Seattle and New England. SI.com insider Peter King, citing unidentified sources, said Sunday the league will announce the decision to cancel the China Bowl early this week. The Seahawks and Patriots are scheduled to play Aug. 7 at Workers Stadium.

King said the NFL will attempt to schedule an exhibition game in China in 2009 at the stadium under construction for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. King went on to note that with the first regular-season game ever played outside North America -- Miami and the New York Giants -- now scheduled for Oct. 28 in London, league officials didn't want to risk cutting corners on either of the massive projects in order to stage both games 11 weeks apart.
