The Chiefs started their off-season conditioning program on Monday, and Green was one of the participants. Edwards said last week Green would be excused. "That's Trent," Edwards said Monday. "That's what you love about the guy. He's a pro. He's still with us. He's still on the Chiefs roster. He should be here. He's still with us. Until something happens, he's a Chief."

The "something" Edwards is referring to, of course, is a likely trade. Cleveland and Miami are believed to be the two most likely landing spots. The Chiefs and Dolphins have gone as far as to exchange trade offers. GM Carl Peterson discussed a trade with his Cleveland counterpart, Phil Savage, at last week's NFL meetings in Phoenix. ... So, it's worth noting, Kansas City's first two pre-season opponents are teams that are the strongest candidates for Green. The Chiefs begin their preseason Aug. 11 against the Browns in Cleveland. They then play against Miami on Aug. 16. ... Stay tuned.
