Agent Doug Hendrickson filed reinstatement paperwork for Smith last week and believes the NFL will give him another chance. "He's been out of the league two years, but you know the talent's there," Hendrickson said. "He's still young. A lot of teams need a back. I think someone will take a chance on him and bring him in to camp."

Smith hasn't played in the NFL since he was busted by airport security with a device for beating drug tests in 2005. But the 26-year old was an effective back for much of his two seasons with the Vikings, who took a chance on him in the fourth round of the 2003 draft.
