McAllister had to take one step back before moving forward this offseason. He had arthroscopic surgery in early February to clean out some scar tissue and repair a partially torn meniscus in his right knee. "It's not necessarily a good thing, but it's not necessarily a bad thing, either," McAllister said.

McAllister said that type of procedure is common for players recovering from ACL injuries, and he expects to be at full speed in time for offseason minicamps and training sessions. ... For now, McAllister is working with the Saints' trainers during the team's 10-week conditioning program, lifting weights, running and doing many of the same knee-strengthening exercises he did last year. He expects to be at full speed well before training camp.
