a previous item. ... Efforts by the Chiefs to trade Green picked up over the weekend when GM Carl Peterson spoke with Miami GM Randy Mueller. "We need to work toward something that's fair," Peterson said. "We'll talk again this week. Whether it gets done before the draft or not, I can't say. It may happen this week, or it may not happen until after the draft."

Green wants to be sent to Miami and has agreed to terms of a contract with the Dolphins. The remaining obstacle is the terms of the trade. "I told Randy that they made a great trade with New England," Peterson said, referring to a recent deal that sent Wes Welker to the Patriots. "They got for what we would consider a third wide receiver and kick-return specialist second- and seventh-round draft picks. I told him that I think a starting quarterback is worth that. ..." Of course, it might be difficult to get full value for Green, who is all but certain to be released if a trade can't be consummated.
