Shipp re-signed with the Cardinals in part because Ken Whisenhunt told him he expected that Shipp would have a chance to run the ball more often. That scenario seemed to play out in the mini-camp. Shipp is clearly ahead of J.J. Arrington on the depth chart behind Edgerrin James.

Shipp, who has lost apparent chances to play to Thomas Jones, Emmitt Smith, Arrington and James over the years, is understandably reluctant to bank on that role. “You never know, man,” Shipp said. “That’s what I have learned. ..." In other words, Arrington better buckle up and compete if he wants to move ahead of Shipp this summer.
