Trade Interest In Michael Turner Will Run Through Draft
(4/23 9:19 PT)

The Facts:
GM A.J. Smith anticipates trade talks regarding Turner to continue until the draft. Smith claims a half-dozen teams have expressed interest in Turner, and a couple are in dire need of a running back. Smith is asking for a first-round and third-round pick, though he is "flexible." Reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
He likely would take a first-round pick either this year or next in conjunction with a second-day pick. He could even take a high second-round pick this weekend, if he believes the right player is available there, in combination with another pick this year or next. ... That said, should he remain a Charger, interest in Turner in the 2008 free agency period will be intense. And the contract he gets will certainly be among the richest signed next spring. So, provided the Chargers do not sign a pricey free agent in '08, their compensation for losing Turner could well be a third-rounder in the 2009 draft.
