As Profootballtalk.com editor Mike Florio suggests, this report -- if true -- is a stunner. Florio went on to explain that Packers G.M. Ted Thompson doesn't like to pay big money for newcomers. And that's what it would take to keep Johnson beyond 2007, the last year of his rookie deal. If the report is true, Thompson will need to have tentative agreement with Johnson on a long-term deal in order to ensure he remains in Green Bay beyond 2007. ... We'll remind you these kind of rumors tend to run rampant in the days leading up to the draft. The vast majority never pan out. That said, we'll be watching closely.
