According to his NFL.com scouting report, the 5-11, 192-pound Meriweather is in the same mold as Baltimore's Ed Reed, as he uses his excellent route recognition skills and range to consistently shut down his pass coverage assignments. As ESPN insider Chris Mortensen suggested, minor character issues might have prompted other teams to shy away. The Patriots, Mortensen contends, have the leadership necessary to overlook those concerns.
