Asked if he wished the Jets had made a play for Randy Moss, who was traded to New England last Sunday, Pennington said: "You always want your team to be able to take a chance on a guy like that because he's a game-breaker." The QB elaborated later, sounding like he definitely wanted the Jets to pursue Moss. "With him being the type of player he is, knowing his attributes. ... Any time you can get a player like that, you're pretty excited," Pennington said.

From all indications, the Jets didn't actively pursue Moss, but Pennington said he did provide GM Mike Tannenbaum with an upbeat endorsement of his friend and former college teammate at Marshall. ... Meanwhile, asked if he'd like the Jets to sign Keyshawn Johnson, Pennington laughed and deferred to HC Eric Mangini and Tannenbaum.
