The Facts:
James will miss the first day of the team's upcoming mini-camp to attend the funeral of a relative in Florida, team officials said Wednesday. "'Edge' called and let me know about the death in his family," HC Ken Whisenhunt said in a statement. "Obviously, it's more important for him to be there Saturday for the services and for his family."

The camp, which starts Saturday and runs through Monday, is mandatory unless the player is excused by Whisenhunt. James is expected to practice Sunday and Monday and attend voluntary workouts this month and in June, according to the team's release. As Republic staffer Kent Somers noted, James prefers to work out at home in Florida in the offseason. Since signing with the Cardinals last spring, however, he has attended many of those workouts.
