On hand for Kevin Faulk Celebrity Softall game Saturday night, Maroney was smiling and playful, but was taking it easy physically. Maroney participated, but not with a bat and glove. He was the umpire.

With reports on the seriousness of the injury requiring Maroney to undergo
off-season shoulder surgery varying, there's been curiosity as to his true status. But Maroney has refused all inquiries about his shoulder and did the same last night. His only comment on the issue came two weeks ago: "My shoulder's doing good right now," Maroney said. "We're rehabbing it, getting the stretching back and basically just getting the strength back in it. ..." Stay tuned. We will, of course, bring you more on Maroney as developments warrant.
