The Steelers announced they have re-signed veteran running back Haynes to a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Haynes, who was released on March 1 of this year, was the Steelers' fifth round draft choice in 2002. He played seven games in 2006 before being placed on the reserve/injured list with a knee injury versus Oakland (Oct. 29). Haynes has played in 60 games with the Steelers and has rushed for 738 yards and three touchdowns on 174 carries. He could continue to handle a third-down role this fall.
