The Facts:
The health of QBs Tim Rattay and Ken Dorsey is questionable heading into Friday's opening of a three-day veterans mini-camp. Rattay has been bothered by foot soreness and Dorsey tweaked his back lifting weights this week. That could leave Cody Pickett, last season's No. 3 quarterback, and newly signed Ryan Sorahan to take the bulk of the snaps when the team takes the field for two practices Saturday.

It also highlights the team's overwhelming need at quarterback. The Niners have the first pick overall in next month's draft. Rattay started nine games last season, but the 49ers have informally discussed trading him, signing a veteran quarterback or installing potential No. 1 picks Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith as their starter next season.
