Ginn, whose selection with the ninth overall pick in the recent NFL draft caused controversy with fans and reportedly veteran teammates, practiced with the team for the first time Thursday and will participate in the mini-camp that starts Friday.

Ginn sprained his left foot in January in the BCS Championship game while playing for Ohio State. Even if he was healthy, he wouldn’t have been able to practice with the team until today. NFL rules bar rookies from participating in drills until their school is finished final exams.
