The Browns released Ricard Thursday. The former Baltimore Raven signed with the Browns on April 16 after spending the '06 season out of football.

Ricard was the lead blocker for now-Browns running back Jamal Lewis during his 2,066-yard season for the Ravens in 2003, but has appeared in only a pair of games during the past two NFL seasons. The team had hoped to reunite Ricard with Lewis in the Browns backfield in '07. Now, the club will depend on '06 sixth-round pick Lawrence Vickers at the position, as well as promising rookie Charles Ali.
