Still working to gain his release from the Dolphins -- and hopefully in time to join another team before the beginning of training camps -- Culpepper will make his case for freedom at a Friday grievance hearing, which will be presided over by arbitrator John Feerick.

Feerick ruled last summer in favor of Steve McNair in a similar grievance against the Titans. It then took Feerick about two weeks to issue his final ruling after the McNair grievance, and a similar timetable is expected in the Culpepper case. ... Stay tuned. The Jaguars, who view Culpepper as a backup candidate, are among the teams interested -- but only if he can engineer his release from Miami.
