recent health problems -- and his inability to participate in the teams initial mini-camp, incoming head coach Mike Nolan declared him the 49ers starter, at least for the moment. "Tim is our starter until someone takes his job from him," Nolan said. "Now obviously, there is going to be competition, but I think he commands the position."

Rattay said he is focused on regaining his health rather than speculation regarding the draft or the possibility he'll be traded to another team. "When something happens, it happens," he said.
