Cedric Benson Catching The Ball Better
(7/23 12:36 PT)

The Facts:
Two years later than he expected, Benson enters as the starting tailback. If the last seven games of 2006 are an indication, he's ready. Benson averaged 4.9 yards per carry and proved to be more than just a bruiser between the tackles. Watch for one thing this season: Benson looked better as a receiver out of the backfield in the spring than some expected. Reported by the Chicago Sun-Times

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As Sun-Times staffer Brad Biggs noted, Benson's work is cut out for him -- on and off the field. Thomas Jones was the only consistent performer on the offense the last two seasons and was immensely popular with teammates. If Benson comes through, he'll have no problem winning them over. But the workhorse who never missed time at Texas has had injuries and must prove he's durable enough to handle the featured role before he's considered a front-line Fantasy back.
