According to Post staffer Jason La Canfora, McCardell has agreed to terms with Houston, as expected.

The Redskins had some serious interest in him, but only at the right price -- the veteran minimum. Because McCardell lives in Houston, La Canfora points out it was only natural that if aging wideout was going to sign anywhere for that kind of money it was going to be there. We'll also suggest that with journeyman Kevin Walter penciled in at No. 2 -- ahead of a group of even more nondescript talent -- McCardell's chances of earning playing time in Houston might be better, too. ...
