Saints, Rookie WR Robert Meachem Agree To Terms
(7/24 9:32 PT)

The Facts:
Meachem agreed Tuesday morning to a five-year deal with the Saints which could max out at $11.3 million. Included in it is $5.71 million in guaranteed money. The contract and the guarantees came in at more than eight percent better than the 27th pick in last year's NFL draft. Reported by ESPN.com

Fantasy Football Diehards Line:
As ESPN insider John Clayton suggested, the last thing Meachem wanted to do was show up late for the start of training camp. Since the draft, Meachem had to lose a few pounds and suffered a minor ankle injury that cost him time in the team's off-season program. He subsequently underwent minor knee surgery to correct a pre-existing condition. Now, starting Wednesday, Meachem can start catching up with quarterback Drew Brees and establishing an on-the-field relationship and begin earning a contributing role in the team's offense.
