The Texans and Jones, the team's third-round draft pick, agreed on a contract Tuesday. The 6-2, 210-pound receiver was the 73rd pick in the draft from Division II Lane College.

Jones is a converted track star and coaches hope to utilize his speed and hands as a receiver and as a return man on special teams. Jones will be competing for playing time during camp with a group of young and inexperienced wide receivers, which include Kevin Walter, David Anderson, Jerome Mathis, Charlie Adams, Andre' Davis and Bethel Johnson.
